Yuletide: Kaduna District Heads urge peaceful celebrations
The Kaduna State District Heads Forum has urged all communities in the state to observe a peaceful holiday season with a renewed commitment to communal harmony, love and mutual trust.
In a New Year and Christmas message signed by its chairman, the Kaugama of Zazzau, Alhaji Nuhu Lawal Umar, District Head of Patika, the Forum called on the diverse communities in the state to imbibe the noble teachings of Jesus Christ as they celebrate Christmas and to to carry same into the new year.
The Forum reminded road users of the need to be extra careful in observing road safety rules and regulations, noting that celebrations are only worthwhile when one is alive and well.
“New Year is a time for taking stock, a time to count our blessings and spare a thought for those less fortunate than ourselves and who have fallen on hard times.
“As we celebrate this year’s Christmas and prepare to lunge into a New Year, this Forum wishes to rejoice with the whole nation and with all Kaduna state communiques in particular,” part of the statement read.
The District Heads also urged for continued cooperation with government in order for all communities to benefit by the laudable development initiatives of the current state administration of Malam Nasir Elrufai.
The Forum however cautioned that no society ever progresses in an atmosphere or rancour, confusion and distrust which informs the need for people to join hands with government and security agencies towards working for a lasting peace, stability and restoration of mutual trust.
“We need peace and communal harmony in order to consolidate on the gains recorded in the last few years in terms of the positive transformation of vital sectors of the state’s life such as public infrastructure, education, health and agricultural development.
“We urge the state government to continue to work diligently in the coming years to ensure that it’s efforts in these areas are carried forward to full fruition in fulfillment of its promise of better public services and improved living conditions for all of us.
“We finally join you all in giving thanks to God Almighty for bringing us through 2018 year to the approach of 2019 which, by His Grace, will be a much better year for us, our state and our country,” the statement concluded.
