Mr LA Most Detribalized Politician, Female Activist Says
A female political activist and communal harmony advocate Elizabeth Barnabas, has described the Peoples Democratic Party senatorial candidate, Lawal Adamu Usman (Mr LA) as the most detribalized politician that could ever be found in Kaduna state today.
Elizabeth who made the observation before an all-female audience in Giwa in continuation of her peaceful election crusade across the state, said while most other politicians see the struggle for political ascendancy as a do or die affair that does not preclude the incitement of religious or tribal jealousies, Mr LA strongly commits himself to a brand of politics that solicits greater communal integration on the basis of mutual trust.
According to her, ” Unlike other competitors, Mr LA’s primary goal in politics is to gain acceptance through mass persuasion and to mobilize communities to function effectively and collectively as a means to resolve specific issues of practical importance without necessarily appealing to tribal or religious sentiments.
She described the LA type of politics as unique for its inclusion of extrapartisan forms like peace and communal harmony groups, youth and women cooperatives, affinity groups, multi-ethnic and cross-religious organizations.
“He plays an organic politics that is based on grassroots education, not mass mobilization. What he primarily seeks is empowerment of the society to breed citizens who can freely associate and mutually support each other with a view toward re-empowering the public as a whole.
“LA is solely committed to seeking to create a new political order and a meaningful public opinion oriented toward a broad vision of social change and public involvement in the problems of our time.
“I am of Katab tribe from Chikun and a Christian, yet I have no doubt that LA has a workable formula for redressing the dismal history of failures and betrayals that mark so many past efforts and exacerbated by the current APC administration of Nasir Elrufai which has in the last few years virtually frozen political life in Kaduna state,” Elizabeth said.
